Although it is reported that Mr P. Morgan had induced tho coal-owners to settle the strike by advancing the minors wages, leaving over other questions in dispute, the future settlement is more generally believed. Mr Morgan declined to intervene since" his syndicate is not directly concerned in the struggle. Ottawa, Oct. 14. The Canadian Municipalities have appealed to the Welsh and Scotch mino owners, asking them to give the Canadian orders for coal a preference over tho American orders.
