CLASSIFICATION OF TEACHERS.
REGULATIONS ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT, By telegraph—Press Association— WELLINGTON, last night. Regulations for the examination and classification of teachers have been forwarded to the Education Boards. The certificate to be granted .shall be of three classes, to be determined by efficiency in teaching and school management, with certain limitations witfi regard to experience. Thus no certificate shall be granted to a candidate who has not had two years’ experience, as a normal student or as a v regularly appointed teacher. Inspec- ~ tors shall indicate their judgment as to a teacher’s practical skill, by assigning marks for efficiency, to be added to marks for service. To determine the class of teacher the division of certificates are to be known from the highest downwards as A., hi., U., whilst the class shall indicate the proved attainment and mental training. The examination for C. shall be based on the primary school syllabus, but more difficult; for B. shall be about tho standard of the senior civil service and for A. shall be based on the examination .for a pass degree at the New Zealand University, plus certain other subjects.
