A BOXING CONTEST.

Auckland, last night. I At the Police Court to-day Frank Ross and F. Turvey, competitors in the boxing contest, were charged with assaulting each other, and Harry Keeßing (referee), Alex. Phillips (timekeeper), and Demand Donovan and Robt. Turner (seconds), were charged with aiding them in the commission of an assault. Defendants pleaded not guilty. After bearine the evidence the ! Magistrate reserved his decision, remarking that it was no doubt a difficult thing to draw a line between a glove fight and a sparring match. Counsel, for defence, contended that a blow struck in sport was not an assault.
