NEW ZEALAND CRICKET COUNCIL
ANNUAL MEETING,
By Tolegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. Tho annual meeting of tho New Zealand Cricket Council was held to-night, tho Hon. E. C. J. Stevens being in tho chair. The annual report referred to the success of the past season, and expressed a hope that tho visit of Lord Hawke’s team would stimulate cricket throughout the colony. The balance-sheet Bhowed a debit of £25 12s 3d, against £3 3s 2d at the beginning of last season. The olection of officors rosultod:—President, tho President of tho Taranaki Cricket Association (Mr W. G. White); vice-presidents, the presidents of affiliated associations ; hon. secretary, Mr E. C. Raphael; hon. treasurer, Mr T. D. Harman.
A letter was road from Wellington, stating that tho Council had been granted the use of the Basin Resorvo for the North v. South Island match on December 26th and following days. Tho letter pointed out that there would be considerable difficulty in arranging the match for that date, and thorefore i* would be useless to accept the offer. The South Otago Cricket Association affiliated to the Council, its application that tho Council should grant a match against Lord Hawke’s team at Balclutha, as well as a recommendation by the Wellington Cricket Association that two matches between the New Zealand toam and the Englishmen should be urranged, was referred to the Committee appointed to deal with matters in connection with Lord Hawke’s visit.
