In the course of an interview Sir E. Barton said that in reference to tho naval agreement in time of peace, the squadron would be stationed in Australia, with the exception of one drill ship and one cruiser, which had been given New Zealand. Mr Seddon cluims much larger than these, but upon full discussion he saw tho justice of tho arrangement, and if was part of the arrangement that if several proportions of the mon from Australia and New Zealand were not available, tboso lacking in one colony could bo obtaiued from tho other.
