Pollard Opera Company.

“THE GONDOLIERS.” Last evening, at the Theatre Royal, the popular Pollards concluded their present season in Gisborne with “ The Gondoliers.” The house was splendid, and tho audience, as usual, thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Mr C. Carter, as Marco, scored a distinct success, his singing being splendid, more especially g 0 in his rendering of “Take a pair of sparkling eyes,” to which he had to respond to a double encore. Mr D. O’Connor, as Guiseppe, also sang and acted well, while Miss Gertie Campion, as Guinetta, was charming, her acting being a special feature of the performance. Miss N. Osborne, as Tessa, captivated the audience with her fine mellow voice, and received quite an ovation for her rendering of When a Merry Maiden Marries,” and Mr J. Ralston as Luiz, and Miss Connie Buttcl, were very successful, while the other parts were all capably sustained. As this is the last time that a Gisborne audience will have the pleasure of hearing Mr C. Carter with the Pollards, prior to his departure for England, we take this opportunity of wishing him every Bucceßs in his venture.

The Company leave by the Zealandia for Auckland, where they play a si? weeks’ season.
