Death of an Old Settler.

(Per Press Association.) Nopier, last night. One of the early Hawke’s Bay settlers, in the person of Mrs A. McHardy (relict of the late Alex. McHardy, formerly President of the Maoawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, and mother of Messrs McHardy Bros., well known throughout the colony as breeders of Shorthorn cattle), died at her residence, Blackhead, this morning, aged 73 years. In addition to the two sons mentioned above, the deceased lady leaves two daughters. '
