A GLORIOUS HOME-COMING. MELBA IS SO OVERCOME THAT SUE FAINTS. CHEERING CROWDS GREET 11ER By Telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright. MELBOURNE, Sept. 28. There was intense enthusiasm last night on Madame Melba making Her first appearance. Site was greeted by a brilliant audience. There were thousands of people congregated in the streets, and they heartily cheered the Ditto, as' she drove to the Town Hall. After tiie first number, which was a scene from “ Lucia,” a tremendous ovation was given to Madame Melba. The lady was overcome, and fainted.
When she had recovered, she sang “ Home, Sweet Home,” as an encore. The first note of the favorite air was greeted with a terrific outburst of applause. Being interviewed after the concert, Madame Melba said . ”1 am overwhelmed with tiie spontaneous welcome. It lias been a glorious homecoming,”
