FINES INFLICTED.
By Tc-legrnph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day a number of bookmakers were charged with having used a part of the Riecarton racecourse for betting purposes, on the occasion of the Grand National Meeting. John Ross, . Chummy Noel, William Norman, Michael Hislop, Bill Wbitta, Robert Hairbairc, and Robert Handcoek were each fined £5 and costs.
