NUHAKA NORTH NOTES.
‘ j In common with other districts, the I weather in Nuhaka has been very erratic j during the last months or six weeks, an alternation of sunshine and showers being the ordei-of the day, it is perhaps needless to add that the latter have greatly predominated. ft really seems as though it is impossible for tho weather to clear up, after n few fine days that lead one to think that at last the sunshine has come to stay, down comes the rain again. Some of the oldest settlers stale that they have never known such a severe winter nor tho feed so backward for this time of the year. A considerable number of lambs have perished in the various localities, and tho prospects of tho fanners having a failpercentage are not very bright. From the appearance of tho docks tho services of the selector of fat sheep will not he re- I quired in this purt of the district for some time. [ Tho road between tho Mahiu -luuction and Tarawa is fairly good, hut there are some very had places between Tarawa and the Tainui crossing ; in some spots pack horses have a difficulty in getting through.
