AUSTRALIANS v. PLAYERS.

Tho Australians commenced the last match of their tour at Ivennington Oval to-day against a team of Players, the same as the last Players’ eleven, excepting Vine, who was replaced by Lockwood. From the Australians wore omitted Howell, Carter, and Jones. Tho weather is dull, and the wicket easy, affording an excellent pace. The Players won tho toss, and have lost three wickets for 175. Abel and Hayward opened, Trmnble and Saunders bowling. When 28 Hayward gavo Trumblo a sharp chance of a catch off his own bowling. Despite frequent changes in tho bowliDg, the score mounted steadily. With the total at 70, Abel had scored 2d, and Hayward 41. Eleven runs later Abel was caught by Hill in the slips. He was 85 minutes at the wickets, and gavo an admirable display. One for 81. At the luncheon adjournment tho score stood at 104. Hayward made 56, and Tyldc-sloy 12. On resuming both were batting vigorously, and tho century and a half soon appeared. With 74 to his credit Hayward was stumped by Kelly oil a hot chance. Ho was two hours ami three quarters at the wickets, and made seven fourers. Two wickets for 160. Tyideslcy, who played excellent cricket, made 54. Tic added a couple, and was howled by Saunders. Tho scores are: Abel, c Hill, b Noble ... ... ... 85

There was a very good wicket. The attendance was large. Quaife gave an easy catch to Hopkins at mid-on. Four for 220. Lremonger and Braund wore the 1 associated. Tho latter knocked up 15, when Saunders bowled him. Five for 282. Hirst had just joined Ircmongar, when the latter placed one into Hopkins’ hands at square-leg. The retiring batsman hit well. Ho was missed by Darling off Saunders when he had mado 61.
