NORTH v. SOUTH ISLAND.
A GREAT GAME. WON BY SOUTH ISLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. About six thousand people witnessed the match between tho North Island and South Island teams, and they wero treated to an excellent exposition of football and a most exciting contest for tho supremacy, the Southerners winning by 20 points to 14. It was one of tho most exciting games over soon in Wellington.
FIRST SPELL. Tho first spell was all in favor of tho North Island, of whom tho Auckland contingent wore tho bright, particular stars, but when tho ends wore changed tho Southerners swept all before thorn, tho Canterbury section standing out in marked prominence. At half time, the scores wore: North Island ... ... 14 South Island 6 Long, Kiornan, Ashor, and Wyllie scored tries for tho North, one beiDg converted. For the South, l’ortoous scored a try and Harper kicked a penalty-goal. THE SECOND SPELL. Tho Northerners did not score in the second half, while tho Southern men put on 14 additional points. McGregor (2), Wood, and Harper were responsible for tho tries, from one of which a goal was kicked, tho result being : South Island 20 North Island 14
JUNIORS DEFEAT WANGANUI.

Wanganui, last night. Tho Lyttelton junior football representatives boat a local team of juniors by 4 points to 3. The visitors were much too heavy for the Wanganui team.
