WOOLLEN COMPANY.
(Per Press Association), Wellington, last night. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Woollen Company to-day the report and balance-sheet were adopted. A proposal to increase the remuneration of directors from £l5O to £750 met with some criticism, and was defeated by seven votes to six. BAD WEATHER. The weather during the last few days has been very cold and boisterous. A hard southerly gale is blowing ill the Straits, giving shipping a decidedly lively time. A LICENSING CASE. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day F. Mcl’artland was charged with selling liquor after 11 p.m. The case aroso out of a banquet given at the Hotel Cecil (of which defendant is licensee) to delegates from other cities to the Employers’ Association Conference. The case was dismissed, the evidence being inconclusive, but the Magistrate remarked that there appeared to bo a good deal of misapprehension amongst publicans as to their liability in such cases.
