GENERALS IN CONFERENCE.
THE BOER CRAZE. A REMARKABLE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Sept. 0. A conference between Mr Chamberlain, Lord Kitchener, and the Boer Generals excited great interest, though tho newspapers ridicule tho idea of tho negotiations.
Enthusiastic crowds cheered and pursued the Generals’ carriage, waving their hats. Tho Generals bowed repeatedly. Mr Chamberlain and Lord Kitchener were also accorded an ovation. Tho interview lasted over two hours, owing to the nocssity of interpreting tho proceedings.
Mr Chamberlain has promised publication at an early date of a bluo book containing a report of the interview. Tho Times states that tho Generals advanced a great number of impossible claims. When informed tliut Lord _ Kitchener's terms precluded their discussion they adopted a sensible view, merely advancing a few minor points. Tho Boor party at Brussels is pessimistic. They accuso irreconeilables of wrecking tho Generals’ mission.
