LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. TIIO Council met at 2.30 p.m. Tho Second-hand Dealers Dill passed the fiual stages. The Manual and Technical Instruction Act Amendment Bill was road a second time.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
Tho House met at 2.30 p.m,
Tho Land Act Amendment Dill and Local Bodies Loan Act Amendment Dill wero read a second time pro forma. The Birds Nuisance Dill and Sharebrokers Dill passed the final stages. The Motor Curs Regulation Dill, Nelson Harbor Board Act Amendment Bill, and Now Zealand University Act Amendment Bill passed the second reading. The Fisheries Encouragement Bill and Opium Prohibition Dili passed through Committee. Tho House resumed at 7.30.
In Committeo on the Old Age Pensions Act Amendment Dill, at clause 8, Mr
Hornsby moved to make the application of tho clause wider by striking out the provision that tho property must have beon the property of tho applicant for ten years. This was carried by 30 to 23. Sir Joseph Ward raised the point as to whether this amendment could bo accepted, as it meant a largo increase in appropriations. Mr Guinness, chairman, said that was a matter for the Speaker. The Bill was reported with amendmens,
