A deluge of scalding mud instantly overwhelmed Mumerongc, Ajoupa, and lioullon.
After the exploding of the land for a mile along the shores, tho eastern part of Martinique sank into the sea. Brana Riviere and several other villages were destroyed.
The temperature was almost unbearable.
The Government have removed over 1000 refugees from the northern part of the island.
The Governor in the middle of August compelled refugees from previous shocks to return to Momeronge, and most of these have since perished. Tatis, Sept. 4. Doctor Pishevin, the highest seismic authority in Paris, thinks the whole zone of the Antilles is threatened, 110 thinks Martinique ought to be evacuated.
TWO THOUSAND SAID TO HAVE PERISHED.

Reports state that 2000 perished at Martinique during the last series of erup tious. Many are leaving tho island.
