ROBBING THE STATE.
A QUEENSLAND SENSATION. BOGUS CLAIMS. CLAIMANT CONVICTED OF PERJURY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, Aug. 29. Tho eiviljaction Campbell v. the Railway Commissioner, claiming 4610,000 damages for falling out of a train, had a somewhat sensational termination.
The Judge, in summing up, said that undoubtedly there had been an audacious conspiracy to defraud the fetate. The Attorney-General said that he had evidence which would show beyond a doubt that Henderson, who was to have given evidence on behalf of the plaintiff, but who disappeared, had obtained from the West Australian Government £615 on a claim made by him. He had also got £3OO or £4OO out of the South Australian Government for falling out of a train. Judgment was entered for the Commissioner.
