ATTACK BY CONVICTS.
A WARDER OVERPOWERED. PRISONER WITH KNIFE THREATENS TO KILL. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. Serious disturbance occurred in Lyttelton gaol on Sunday afternoon. Two prisoners—. Joseph Mason Eoggan, who was concerned in a recent attack on the warder, and Herbert Allandale, who is serving a sentence of eleven years for robbery and escape from gaol at Wellington —seized Warder Manning in the library and took the keys away from him. Warder Parker coming along was attacked by the prisoners, Foggan producing a knife and demanding to bo taken to where the warder's lodge was, saying that he intended to kill him. Parker blew a whistle for assistance, and both prisoners were overpowered and locked up in the cells. It is supposed that Foggan made the knife in tho cell which ho usually occupied.
