Ashburton, last night. At a mooting of tho Ashburton branch of tho Farmers’ Union on Saturday, Mr G. W. Loadloy, Presidont of tho North Cantorbury branch and Vico-Prosidont of tho Colonial Conference, Btatod that tho Union had beon twittod with being a party organisation got up to oust tho presont Government. He gave the statement a flat denial. There was not a word of truth in it. Thero was nothing in tho policy of tho Union which aimed at that. If did not matter what party a candidate supported. If ho supported the Unions’ platform, ho was their man. Mr Loadloy briefly travorsed tho planks of tho platform, and concluded by stating, “ Our politics are our own."
