LETTER FROM SIR J. G. WARD,
On Saturday, Mr W. Gaudin, Secretary of the Cook Memorial Fund, received the following letter from Sir Joseph Ward, Acting-Premier ; I am in receipt of your letter of the 30th ult., with reference to several matters in connection with the monument it is proposed to erect to mark the spot on which Captain Cook first landed in this colony. In reply, I desire to say that your representation will receive due consideration at the hands of the Government,”
