Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., roport holding their stock sale at the Matawhero yards on Thursday, when there was a large and representative attendance. The yarding, though not large, was well over advertised numbers, and the bulk of the offerings changed hands before leaving the yards. Sheep : Our yarding consisted of hoggets, for which there was a muchimproved demand, medium mixed sexes making 7s 7s, and strong sheep up to 10s. Cattle : Wo offered well over 100 head, consisting chiefly of dairy sorts, springing heifers and cows, for which the demand has weakened since our July sale. We quote :—Springing cows from £6 6s to £9 2s 6d, and springing heifers £3 to £6 10s and £7 12s 6d. We placed about 40 head at these prices. Mixed weaners brought 58s 6d to 635, 2.1 to 3-year bullocks (forward) £6 15s, 2-year stores £4 • 12s 6d, station cows in calf (low condition) £4 5s to £4 15s, and a purebred Shorthorn bull (2-year old) £lB. Horses : An active draught mare made £26. Several aged draughts failed to make reserves. Pigs : Porkers, small, 18s 6d. Our next sale will be held at Matawhero on the 18th September, when we expect to see a large yarding of cattle.
