A fire in a public house in Piccadilly at daybreak isolated nine barmaids and servants in tho upper floors. There was intense excitement. A fire escape arrived in the nick of time, and all were rescued in their night dresses. Paris, Aug. 21. The churches in parts of Brittany propose to boycott lay schools, and tradesmen tiireaten not to supply the teachers with food.
