The American Vaudeville Stars.
On Wednesday next the organisation of American artists will commence a four nights season in the Theatre Royal. Their entertainments are known as “ Polite Vaudeville.” 11 Polite Vaudeville ” is a term coined to typify the evolution and development of this most fascinating class of entertainment so much in vogue in the great centres of the world. It has completely
revolutionised the old order of things, by presenting a form of amusement replete with interest, bright and attractive, and happily free from the slightest tinge of I suggestion, coarseness, or vulgarity. The present organisation comprises artists selected from London, New York, and the Continent. The company is headed By Kelly and Ashby, the “ bounding billiardists,” in their famous act on the billiard table. This act has been shownin all parts of the world, and has everywhere created a furore. Cunning, America's greatest magician and mind reader, is assisted by Warren, the Mormon Wizzard, in a series of legerdemain, bordering on the marvellous. Miss Dorothy Roberts audher pocket piccaninies, are as enjoyable as they are unique, aud this novel turn has been received nightly with big applause.
Morris and Wilson are a duo of grotesque comedians, who have a reputation second to none, This act is One continuous laugh from start to finish. Irene Duval is one of America’s greatest character artists, whose mannerisms and style are excellent. Percy James, society entertainer, is at the head of the] tree in this line. Beryl Gilman, the young lyric artiste, is a delightful singer of those popular illustrated story ballads. The prices are moderate, viz., Is, 2s, and 3s, and. should be within the bounds of all.
