Noblo joined Hill, and both gave an oxcollont batting display, Noblo boing especially free and knocking up 35 in half-an-hour. Tho total of 100 was producod for under two hours’ play. Hill scored rnoro slowly than his partner, who had registered his half-contury in fifty-five minutes. Although tho batting was bright, the holding was poor. Noblo outpaced Hill’s total boforo boing caught at short-log by W. Smith. His innings was oxcollont, and was characterised by fane hitting. Four for 207. Gregory was next man. Mead was bowling well, but was unlucky. Hill gave chancos to tho wicket-keeper of both catching and stumping. At lunch, the scoro was four wiekots for 265. On resuming, Hill obtained his century in 195 minutes, Gregory gotting plontyof runs with pretty strokes. When tho third century was in sight, E.
