Tho Standard states that the King, iu tho course of his yachting tour round tho coast of Groat Britain, visits Cork within tho next few weeks. His intention is to make a two months’ tour of tho district whereof much has recently been heard iu Parliament, and tako every opportunity to study the state of tho Irish peasantry. The Telegraph states that tho general feeling in Dublin over the King’s visit is ono of extreme satisfaction, and tho conviction is that the sojourn will bo entiroly successful. Ilis Majesty the King, replying to an address from the Portsmouth Corporation, said : “ On behalf of the Queen and myself, I thank you cordially for your congratulations upon my. coronation and recovery, and upon tho conclusion of peace, an infinitely fulfilled mercy which it has pleased Almighty God to vouchsafe to us and tho pooplo. “ I trust that now wo aro happily at peaco again with all tbo world, tho rocent rejoicings, in which tho wholo Empire shared, may send us forward each to our own stations, to work with ronowod energy, and earnestness for maintaining the improvements, and noble heritage and accomplishments that becomo 0 groat people.” A LOVING TRIBUTE. The King laid on the Alberta’s deck, in a specially prepared awning, a brass cross inscribed, “Here resteth the beloved remains of Queen Victoria on February Ist and 2nd, 1901." NAVAL INVESTITURE. His Majesty visited Osborne, returning in the yacht. He is to hold a Naval investiture.
