A mass meeting of Unionists, convened by the Secretary of the Federated Tailoresses’ Union, was held at Wellington on Wednesday night. Mr D. J. Nathan presided and delivered an address, amid great uproar, owing to a number of those present objecting to him as chairman. Resolutions were carried urging the Government to amend the Conciliation and Arbitration Act so that Government inspectors may state cases of breach of award, and that it shall be compulsory on a Court when three, centres agree to an award in any industry to make such a colonial award. Messrs Bolt, M.L.C., and Millar and Arnold, M.H.R.'s, were among the speakers.
