MR AND MRS SEDDON HAVE AUDIENCE WITH KING.

(Telephoned from Napier.) London, Aug. 18. His Majesty the King and Sir \V. Treeves drove in a closed carriage to the Royal College of Surgeons. In the afternoon liis Majesty presented the Premiers and their wives with gold Coronation medals.

Mr Seddon congratulated the King on his recovery. He presented His Majesty with the New Zealand executors’ illuminated address, the gold and greenstone casket from his (Mr Seddou’s) constituents, also a Maori gift, and an address in Maori from Mahuta.

The King complimented Mr Seddon on the appearance of the New Zealand soldiers, remarking they had fought very we in South Africa. He admired the physique of the Maoris. The King and Prince of Wales expressed pleasure at Mrs Seddon’s recovery. The Prince of Wales made many enquiries regarding New Zealand. He said that It was the most unique and interesting of the colonies. The King complimented Sir Edmund Barton on the bravery of the Australians.
