THAMES TROUBLES.
(Per Press Association,)' , Thames, last night. The drainage of the deep levels, on which the future of the Thames goldfields practically depends, was discussed at a meeting of the Drainage Board to-day. The Thames-Hr.uraki Co., which, with twenty-five thousand pounds Government subsidy, erected a huge pumping plant, is now iu arrears to the Drainage Board by
£IBOO. Representatives now at Hom< report that arrangements in connectior with the liquidation of the Standard Co. : the parent to the Thames-Hauraki Co., are complicated. Further time will be required before the New Zealand creditors can be satisfied. Sir A. J. Cadman, Mr Harris, attorney for the Hauraki, with the solicitor for the same, are acting with the Official Receiver to effect order out of the chaotic position of the parent company. It is hopeful that further capital will be obtained to enable the deep levels to be prospected and opened up. The Board decided tc obtain judgment for drainage fees due (already judgment has been obtained for a thousand), but to hold over fourther action until additional news is cabled from Home.
