DISTRICT ORDERS. Headquarters, Wellington. 28th July, 1902. compliance with General Order 188 of 12th May, and instructions since received, the following is published for general information and guidance of all concerned:—• 1. On 9th August, the occasion of the Coronation of His Majesty King Edward VII., ail Volunteer Corps, including Cadets, will parade at an hour to fit in with that of the Procession or other Ceremonial arranged for by the Civil Authorities at their own centres. This parade will count as a Daylight Parade towards Capitation. The Hon. the Minister of Defence desires that no troops are to be taken away from any Borough or Sub-District in v which it is proposed to celebrate the King’s Coronation.

2. His Majesty’s Veterans of the Navy, Army, and Colonial Forces, and Officers and Men of returned Contingents aro invited to assemble with the troops at their respective centres, and the Volunteer Officer in command will assign to them the post of honor at the head of the column or right of the line. 3. Defence Rifle Clubs are also invited to join the parade at their nearest centre, and will occupy the rear of the column or left of the line. 4. Immediately after parade every Officer Commanding a Corps of Volunteers or Cadets, and Captains of Defence Rifle Clubs, will telegraph (urgeDt) direct to Major Smith, Staff Officer, Wellington, the number of (1) Officers, and (2) Men on parade at their respective units, and, to prevent mistakes, the name of the Corps or Club must be written after the name of the sender of the telegram. In like manner the Senior Volunteer Officer present will wire the number of Veterans and returned Contingent Men. The total number will be communicated to His Excellency the Governor, who desires to transmit the same to His Majesty the King.

5. It is confidently expected that attendance of all ranks will make the Coronation Parade a memorable one, thoroughly representative and worthy of the colony. 6. The troops will fire a Feu-de-.loie, and afterwards give three cheers for His Majesty tho King. A Salute of 101 Guns will be fired by the Permanent Artillery from the Saluting Battery at Headquarters, Wellington.

7. South African War Medals will be distributed on Coronation Day by His Excellency the Governor at Wellington ; and the Mayors of the undermentioned Cities or Boroughs will bo requostod to presonfc any Medals still in their hands—Masterton, Dannevirke, Napier, Gisborne, Palmerston North, Feilding, Wanganui, Hawera, Stratford, and New Plymouth. PUBLIC HOLIDAY. CORONATION DAY. BY instructions from the Government, I hereby proclaim SATURDAY, the 9th AUGUST, 1902, a CLOSE PUBLIC HOLIDAY, in honor of the Crowning of King Edward VII.
