Mr Condon, member of the House of Commons for Tipperary East, who :is Mayot of Clonmol, reply that he neither wished nor intended to accept. The Governor of Damaraland has reported to Berlin that 400 Boers, with 200 women and children, have settled in tho colony. Some are recalcitrant and ho fears trouble. He asks if Great Britain has applied for extradition. Germany has promised to withdraw from Shanghai when China has given an assurance of the safety of foreigners. Professor Holland, of Oxford, in a letter to the Times, repudiates the notion of an invading army being legally liable to. pay for stock requisitioned from private enemies. The receipts given, he contends, were not evidence of contracts. Tho Cape correspondent of the Times says Sir Gordon Spriggs, believes ho will be able to pass an Indemnity Bill, at an early date, as the operation of martial law will only then be removed.. Melbourne, Aug 6. Tho Federal House negatived a proviso in the Bonus Bill, giving State Governments a monopoly of tho bonus in regard to the iron industry. The Bill is again meeting with stormy opposition.
