(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —At tho Harbor Board meeting Mr Siovwright wanted to know what Mr Ross was driving at. Well, sir, with your permission, I will let Mr Siovwright know that I was not driving piles with rotten hearts, but had undertaken a much moro arduous and forlorn duty in endeavoring to open tho eyes of tho blind, and remove tho rotten beam that had so completely shut out the light of day from their optical organs. In doing so I removed, with your permission, a small portion of a largo pearl which had grown over their eyes. This portion, though small, is valued in the open market at £IOO 2s 4d (see Harbor Board report), and this sum I propose to return to the lawful owners.
