An intimation was received to-night that the Orient, with returning troopers, left Melbourne at 1 o’clock, and is expected at Port Chalmers on Tuesday. THE GOVERNOR, New Plymouth, last night. His Excellency tho Governor was present at the final test football match this afternoon, showing interest in the game and chatting with the playors. His Excellency visited various places of interest during the day, and unveiled the bust of the late Sir Harry Atkinson this afternoon in the Council Chambers in the presence of a large gathering of veterans and tho public. The Governor left tonight for Auckland. RAILWAY MISHAPS. Dunedin, last night. Tho Oamaru to Palmerston train last evening met with a slight mishap after leaving Shag Point, by which several waggons were derailed and two passenger carriages partially so. The guard managed to uncouple the front portion, and the engine-driver pulled up about a mile further on. No damage was caused worth speaking of. Messrs Coom and Beattie have held an inquiry, and found that tho accident was due to the cross-pin of tho buffer of one of the waggons breaking. The loose buffer-hook levered one of the waggons off the line, and this caused others to follow. Tho same gentlemen have found that a slight accident on the Port line on Saturday was caused by a broken waggon-spring, THE NAPIER FIRE.
The following arc tho insurances on tho stock of Mr Williams, chemist, which was partially destroyed by fireyesterday afternoon : Northern £3OO, Royal £SOO, Imperial £4OO, South British £2OO, Norwich Union £2OO.
