Educational Conference.

[OX TELEGRAPH.—TRESS ASSOCIATION.] Nelson, last night. Tho Nelson Education Board, finding a difficulty under the new regulations of making both ends moot with so many small schools in romoto and sparselypopulated districts, somo timo sineo suggested to other boards that a conference bo held in Wellington during the session, the object being to bring under the notico of tho Legislature tho difficulties of finanejnrr smaller boards. Tho idea received support from the majority of other boards throughout tho colouy, but tho Minister for Education, who was consulted, informed tho Nelson Board that ho did not consider a conference was needed, as last year’s Commission in regard to teachers’ salaries had taken exhaustive ovidenco in respect to the finauciai position of tho boards. Notwithstanding the Ministers roplv several boards have requested tho Nelson Board to carry out the idea, and gavo names of tho delegates appointed, also subjects of consideration to be placed on tho order paper. Tho Nelson Board to-day resolved to hold a conference, and tho Wellington Board's rooms have been placed at their disposal for the occasion, commencing on Tuesday, August 12th. Mr Talbot, chairman, has been appointed delegate, and Mr Ellis, secretary, accompanies him in a secretarial capacity.
