The attendance at the opening was very large. The not-outs, Jackson and Braund, continued tiie innings and made a stand which went far to retrieve the failure of yesterday of so many of the team. Trumble and Noble commenced the attack. Fourteen runs were knocked up oil the first three-overs. Jackson doing most of tho hitting brought his total to twenty-seven. At eighty-six Saunders relieved Noble. At niuety-ono Trumble adopted tho device of bowling round the wicket. Jackson did not appear happy when facing Saunders, (icing three times beaten by tho ball.

The century appeared after 35 minutes' play. The bowling of both truudlers was splendid, Trumblo being tho most accurate.
