Homeward Bound.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. In reply to inquiries by tho Government, the following cable message from Major Pilcher, dated Capetown, Thursday, has been received 1 “ Major Jackson and Captain Mitchell sailed by tho Montrose with the Tenth, from Durban, on the loth. No. 638 McGonagle is at Johannesburg, well; Trooper Kelland is convalescent, and on the way to Capetown ; Ernest Baker is convalescent at Elandsfontein ; Troopor Atkins is progressing favorably at Newcastle ; Veterinary-Surgeon Matthews is recovering, and likely to sail on the 28th, with twenty other oflicers, from Capetown.
The following, dated Albany, Thursday, was received by the Commandant, from Major Abbott, commanding the troops on the Orient“ Tho Orient arrived here this morning. The troops aro all well. The total on board for Australia is 121; and '.for Now Zealand, 03 oflicers and 1122 men, as follows: Ninth Contingent, 62 officers and 1037 men; Sixth, 2 men ; Seventh, 10 men ; Eighth, one officer and 14 men ; Tenth, 52 men. They aro for various ports: Auckland, 203 ; Wellington, 298; Nelson, 95; Lyttelton, 261; Dunedin, 268.
