SUDDEN DEATH.

Napier, last night,

An old resident Mrs James Lawrence, was found dc-ad in her bed this morning. It is supposed that she died from heart disease. An inquest will be held tomorrow.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE,

A meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held to-day, when it was decided that, in the opiuion of the Chamber, the proposed Land and Live Stock Auction Bill is unnecesary and uncalled for, and thatthe proposed State Fire Insurance Bill is also unnecessary, it being undesirable that the Government should enter into competition with existing trading concerns the resolutions of the Dundin Chamber of Commerce with regard to this Bill were endorsed, and it was resolved to write to the Ministers for the district, requesting them to oppose both measures.
