HOUSE OE REPRESENTATIVES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Y\ ollington, last night. The House met at 2 .00 p.m. Sir Joseph Ward announced that the Government had been officially advised that the Coronation will take place on August 9th, and ho proposed to adjourn Parliament from the previous Thursday night till the following Tuesday. It was intended to have one public holiday throughout the colony, namely, Saturday, the 9th August, and the whole of the demonstration would take place on that dav.
The Railways Committee reported on the petition of Mr Samuel Vaile, of Auckland, praying that his Stage system be tried oil New Zealand railways. The Committee recommended that it be referred to the Government for consideration.
Mr Pirani moved to add that a trial of the system he made. Sir Joseph Ward said that an offer had boon made to Mr Vaile to try his system, but he had not taken it up. After lengthy discussion the amendment was lost by off to 26.
The rest of the afternoon was dovoted to local hills. The House rose at 5.G0.
The House resumed at 7.30 p.m, The Wellington Harbor Boards Empowering Bill, Hawera Borough Betterment- Bill, and Christchurch Tramways District Bill were read a second time. In the course of the discussion on tho last-named Bill, Sir Joseph Ward spoko strongly in favor of the nationalisation of the tramways in tho larger centres of the colony.
