Tho monthly mooting [of tho Waiapu County Council was held at Wnipiro> torday. Present: Messrs A. H, Mallis chairman), A. B. Williams, Hmdmarsh, Henderson, and Sherwood. COKUESPONDKNC K. A communication was read from the Public Health .Department ro precautions against small-pox, urging tho necessity o vaccination. —Received. ‘ Tho Land and Income Tax Department askod for information with regard to SU Aid Board wrote asking for payment of the Council’s contribution, JOS. *A communication from the committee of tho Veterans' Home Lund was received. A LICENSE.
Mr William Oates was granted a slaughtering license on the usual terms. engineer's Tho Engineer reported that the road pointed out by Mr Murphy to give access tn Waihou, along the side of the lulls, bad completed Iso. 8 cont.act on he Hikuwai road. The heavy Hoods of th.11th and 12th inst. had done much dama to tho Whareponga, Tuparoa, and Eeporo. roads. Ho had made arrangements to portions of the Tuparoa inland road tab "nnaired, and! ho recommended that ten ders be called for tho same, tho cstimato bC On fho°motion of Cr Ilindmarsh, it was decided that the Engineer bo requested to proceed with tho formation of tho road to rivo access to Waihou. , . b Cr Sherwood proposed that tenders be called for tho formation of the Inland Tuparoa road. —Carried, separate HOSPITAL DISTRICT, Eugineev furnished a repert iu rs<
i/ard to the above question. Ho sabl that the sum paid to the Cook County Hospital Board per year amounted to .£2BO 10s. The Chairman said that he had interviewed Mr Carroll and Mr Nolan re a depurate district, and Mr Carroll had promised to bring a Bill before Parliament regarding the matter during the present session. It was decided to take steps to have the Waiapu County Council declared a separate district. LOOKIN'!; AH LAO. It was decided on tbo motion of Cr Sherwood, that the Ohikouka block bo reserved as an agricultural and pastorai ground.
Cr Hindmarsh proposed that the sum of .£I2OO ho raised for the Hikuwai arid Tauwhareparao roads.-- Seconded by Cr Sherwood and carried. AWAL’I-KA WAKAWA ROAO. Cr Henderson’s motion, “ That the Awanui-Kuwukawa road bo declared a county road," was unanimously adopted. ItESKItVKS. Two letters were received from Kawakawa residents asking for the approval of the Council to the appointment of trustees i„c the cemetery ami recreation grounds at that place.—Approval given. ACCOUNTS. Tho accounts passed for payment included Colonial Treasurer X2lO 3s -Id, -I. McDonald 128 Os, McDonald and Co. .cr, 1 10s Hi!, .1. Ward X 34, C. H. McCracken .C IO 1 2s Gd, P. McLaughlin X’22 3s. Discussion took place with regard to a claim for a number of extras in connection with tho Hikuwai contracts, and the Council declined to pay several items included in tho account. Tho Council rose at 2.30 p.tn.
