FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. The High School Board of Governors has resolved to offer to the Government to make secondary education free in the Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools, on payment of a capitation of £3 during the first year of transaction, and £6 per annum subsequently, to all pupils who have passed the Sixth Standard. A SUICIDE. At the inquest on the body of Peter Matthewson, who hanged himself last Sunday, the evidence showed that he was a great sufferer from asthma. A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. |
