The citizens of Sydney (says the Sydney Morning Herald) have been moved lately to put forth special efforts to kill off the rats, which are generally recognised to he the source of the plague. These efforts have been abundantly successful, aid periodical attempts have been made bygood citizens to reduce the number of these pests. There is more than a chance that these attempts will be seriouslylessened in extent and value once it is announced that the plague is at an end. Thereby much harm will possibly be done. If we want- to keep the plague away from our port we must maintain the war against rats ; maintain it regularly and systematically. This means little from a financial point of view ; but we stand to lose heavily if by neglecting rational precautions we leave the door open for another visitation o' the plague. Penny postage has proved a great boon Ever since it has come into force, Such benefits can't reach us too soon Though bound to arrive in due course. It is time we took care of our pence, And likewise our health I am sure, So he, with a cough and good sense, Takes WOODS’ GREAT PEPPER' MIST CORE.
