The poultry show continues this afternoon, and concludes to-night. A special meeting of the Huia Football Club is called for this evening at the Albion Club Hotel. An important meeting of the Gisborne Farmers' Union will be held at two o’clock this afternoon. The football fixtures to-day are HaitiCity v. Huia (senior) and West Fill v Huia (junr.) Representations having been made to the Hon. J. Carroll as to the urgency of the road through the Taliora block bemg continued, Mr Carroll brought the matter before the Department, the result being that the expenditure oi a further sum of £2OO on the work has been authorised; The President oC the -Liberal Association, Mr E. P, Joyce, made representations to tiie Hon- J. Carroll, as to the unsatisfactory condition of the engine used on the railway. A reply was- received from Mr Carroll that he would bring the matter under the notice of Mr Hall-Jones.
