BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF J. D. KELLEY. The following statement has been filed by Josepb"Daggett Kelley, bankrupt : “I started business in Gisborne in April, 1901, with fairly good prospects. I bad about £3G capital, against which there were liabilities of £BO, contracted in the business I formerly carried on in Auckland. I was making good headway and bad begun to reduce my liabilities, when unfortunately I bad to leave the shop I was occupying and go to the expense of fitting up another. Immediately afterwurds I was taken ill, and was laid up for six weeks. During tho last six months my health has been very poor and I have not been able to work half the tirno. As most of my business depends on my personal exertions, this made it difficult for me to continue. I, however, made an effort, and was willing to do my best, but my creditors began to get impatient at the long delay, and in some cases threatened to summons. I found it was hopeless to continue tho struggle, and was forced to file. Notwithstanding this I trust that if I regain my health and strength I will be able to pay all my creditors what I owe them.”
