NELSON, last night. The Rev. R, S. Grey, pastor of the Nelson Baptist Church for the past ■six years,, has accepted a call to Oxford street Baptist Church, Christchurch, and leaves for his new sphere of duties in three months. A strong effort was made by the local congregation to retain Mr Gray, but lie felt that a widest sphere of usefulness called him away. Air Gray has also been a member of the Nelson City Council.
The Harbor Board has just accepted a tender for works in connection with the harbor improvements scheme, covering *I6OO, fully half of which will he spent locally. This is in addition to the dredge contract for £13,000, the first progress payment towards which was made on .Saturday, namely, £9OO. CHRISTCHURCH, last night.
