Gregory joined Dull, but when the total had advanced to 52 Duff was snapped up at the wickets by Lilloy. Noble followed, and when tho score stood at 60 Braund replaced Hirst. Gregory was caught by Abol at point very smartly. Five for 78. Noble hit Barnes for 11 in one over. As the morning wore on the wonther became brighter. There was a fair attendance ot the public. Hopkins partnered Noble, and tho Australians brightened considerably, Noblo playing forcefully, and hitting two tourers off Braund. At 87 Jackson took the ball, Rhodes re placing Braund. At 96 tho latter had tuken four wickets fur 26 runs.
Noble continued to punish the bowling, and at the adjournment for lunch had raised the total to 98. On resuming Barnes and Rhodes took up the bowling. Hopkins began to warm up. Noble then gave an easy catch in tho slips, bringing a lino batting innings to a conclusion. Ho was at tho wickets seventy minutes. Six for 129. Armstrong was next, but Hopkins, who had a lucky innings, gavo a low hut easy catch to Braund in tho slips. Sovon for 187. Rhodes and Barnos wero both howling well, and tho wicket was getting oasier. Kelly mado a single, when Barnes bowled him. Eight for 188. Trumble filled tho vacancy. Armstrong was very smartly caught and bowled by Braund. Ho showed an invaluable defence, and mado several good hits. Truiublo scored freely, tho partnership adding 57 in forty-five minutes. Nino fur 194. Saunders ,vas last man, but Truiublo skied Jackson back to him uftcr a good innings. The Australians wero throe hours and 20 minutes ut tho wickets. Their scores wero :

At 44, Trumpcr replaced Saunders, Trumblo changing onds for a few overs, when Noblo relieved.
The cliango proved effective, Noblo bowling Maclaren in the first over. Barring a wido chance of stumping on the leg side when ho bad scored 21, Maclaren had shown excellent form, putting together 31 in sixty-one minutes. Tyldcsley joined Abel, when the latter’s scorn was at 21. Ho added 17, and thon, playing forward to Noble, ho had his leg stump romoved with a fine back break. 110 batted admirably throughout Two for 86. Jackson succeeded Tyldcsley, and retired when ho had mado 22, being finally caught by Armstrong off Noblo, close to the second slip. The retiring batsman played a good innings. Three wickets for 101. Fry filled tho vacancy, but loßt his parß ner, who was easily caught by Gregory at cover-pomt, off Saunders, without any further addition to the score. Fry just managed to break his duck before Kelly stumped him, Five wickets for 102. Lilley and Braund played time out without altering the total. The light towarda tho close was bad.
