NAPIER PARK RACES.
A SENSATIONAL DIVIDEND.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Napier, last night. The weather was cold and wet for the first day of the Napier Park Racing Club’s meeting, but there was nevertheless a good attendance. The course was heavy, and this brought about several falls in the jumping events, but none of a serious nature. The large dividend of £122 4s was paid on Ballistite in the last race. The sum of £4357 was put through the totalisator. Tho following are the results : Hack Hurdles. Reliance 1, Master Model 2, Ogle 3. Also started : Vathek, Pearlshot, and Rocket. Won easily. Time, 3.35. Divs., £2 3s and £2 13s. Steward’s Stakes. —Will-o’ the-Wisp 1, Dexterity 2, Ideal 8. Also started : Hinetaura, Rubin, Daphne, Lady’s Link, Darodevii, Legion of Honor, and Comfort. Time, 2.20. Divs., £3 13s and £1 18s.
Napier Steeplechase. Scallywag 1, Cronjo 2, K Jam 8. Also started : Lochado, Rufus, The Phantom, Great Scott, Awahuri. There was a chapter of accidents, all the competitors making mistakes except the winner, who won b,y the length of the straight. Time 7.6, divs. £2 11s and £0 2s.
Ladies’ Bracelet.—Kelpy 1, Aroha 2, Crown Princo 3. All acceptors started. Won by two lengths. Time 2,26, divs. £1 9s and £2 Bs.
Hunters’ Handicap Steeplechase.— Jacko’-Lantevn 1, PeterOsbeck 2, Chance 8. Scratched : Tho Gryphon. Won by a length. Time 4.44, divs. £1 17s and £1 11s.
Handicap Hurdle Race.—Rufus 1, The Hempie 2, Tukierangi 3, All acceptors started. Won by a length. Time 3.38, divs. £2 8s and £1 6s.
Settlers’ Hack Handicap.—Ballistite 1, Taniwha 2, Defoe 3. Scratched : A.B.N. and Hellespont. Won by half a li ,7th. Divs. £122 4s and £4 12s.
WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The following handicaps have been declared for the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting by Mr Henry : Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase : The Phantom 12.13, Swimmer 11.9, Hutana 11.8, Mangatera 10.7, Tcha 10.5, Peter Osbeck 9.13, Hokowhitu and Clovis 9.9, Sir James, Redshank, Puaka, Monument, Bansher 11., Bawn Boy, Pumau, and Cassimir 9.7.
