(Per Press Association.) AUUaEAinD, last, night. In the Police Court- a Maori named Ratema te - Mata was charged with bigamy, and with -making a lalse declaration to the Kegistrar. Counsel for the prosecution stated that a woman named Mere Matui had been married according to lull Maori custom to Molii te YVara in 1875. Mere .subsequently ran away with defendant, who married her before the Registrar at whether a Maori marriage was good in common law, counsel for the defence maintaining it was not Evidence is being heard to day. The Education Board, after considering the qualifications of the candidates -fo-r the position of director of the Technical School, referred the application of Mr George to the Chairman ol the London County Council. It was understood that a reply had been received by cable that the qualifications of Air George are entirely satisfactory, and he will probably be appointed. Mr George is at present head blaster of the Sutherland Technical Institute. He was trained in the Merchant Technical College, Bristol.
