Mr Deakin, in moving that the House regrets the approaching, departure of Lord Hopetoun, said that ho oould not help reflecting in the light of past events that it would have acted more wisely if the Ministry had invited the opinion of Parliament in regard to the up-keop of the Governor’s establishment. Tho earlier delay was unavoidable, and so far as it was intentional, it was done with the best end in view. The House adjourned until July 22nd, awaiting the return of the tariff from the Senate.
