ADULTERATED BUTTER.

By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright London, June 14. A Bill which Mr Hanbury introduces into tho House of Commons extends the margarine provisions of the Food and Drugs A::t to butterine, with the exception of a section restricting the amount of butter-fat. It provides that a statement that the butter has been adulterated or impoverished, indicating an approximate increase in fhe water, must be legibly printed on the wrapper. The title “ butterine ” means butter to whioh any substance has been added whereby the amount of water has been increased, but does not include margarine. The Bill comes into operation at tho beginning of next year, excepting for brine butters where the moisture does not exceed eighteen per cent., whioh aro exempted till 1904.
