PERSONAL.

Mr and Mrs J. Clark and Miss Clark, of To Arai, returned from Auckland yesterday. Mr G. Oman, of the Coronation Hotel, returned to Gisborne yesterday by the Zealandia. Messrs H. Martin, and D. Barry were passengers by tho same steamer.

Miss Rogers, lately in the employ of the Auckland firm of Messrs Milne and Choyce, arrived by the Zealandia yesterday, to take charge of Mossrs Adair Bros.’ dressmaking department. The young lady possesses very high qualifications, and Messrs Adair Bros, are to be congratulated on securing-her services. Trooper Buckley, of Patutahi, a member of the Seventh Contingent, returned home by the Zealandia yesterday, and was accorded a warm welcome - by his numerous friends and comrades. He has been away from Gisborne" about a year and a half, during which time he saw a good deal of fighting. During the last tew months of the campaign he was at Newcastle and Standerton. He returned in excellent health.

Mr F. J. Shelton returned from the South yesterday morning. Mr T. Coulthard Mullions, architect of Auckland, arrived by the Zealandia yesterday, and intends practising in his profession in Gishorne. In addition to a thorough knowledge of architecture, he has had many years’ practical experience in the construction of buildings, and is prepared to carry out architecture in all its branches. He is at present staying at the Albion Hotel.

Mr Thos. Hyde has been re-elected a member of the Hawke's Bay Land Board. Lieutenant Christian, Sergeant Coleman, and seventy troopers of the Sixth and Seventh Contingents, were through passengers by the Zealaudia last evening. Mr W. H. O. Johnstone, of Auckland, has been appointed to represent the Gisborne Poultry Club at the meeting to be heid in Auckland for the purpose of forming a North Island Poultry Association. Lieutenant Donald Simson, ot the Eighth Contingent, who is a nephew ol Mr lan Simson, of Gisborne, was recently promoted to be a staff-officer to Colonel Thornycroft. His many friends will be pleased to hear of his good fortune.
