MAKOHINE VIADUCT.
By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The preliminary trial of the Makohine viaduct took place yesterday. An engme drawing twelve trucks of , another truck containing Public Works officials, workmen, and others crossed from the Ohingaiti side. The structure was severely tested with a load of 100 tons, this heavy load crossing half-a-dozen times. Notwithstanding the great heicht of 242 feet, the motion of the tram was perfect. The viaduct is (00 feet across. Those in charge are thoroughly satisfied with the test.
